If you have Adobe Photoshop, you can create your own postcard design from our template, ensuring that your design is ready to print!
After downloading the template and designing your card, visit the
"Use your own design order form"
to have it printed
Some familiarity with photoshop is necessary.
  • Instructions:
  • Open the template in Photoshop
  • Make sure you can see the guides by clicking "View" in the top menu, then "show", then select "Guides".
    • Your canvas should now look like a larger version of this:
    • example template image
  • Your background image should cover the entire canvas
    (sizes are Standard: 4.125 x 6.125
    (after cutting, cards are 4" x 6")
    Large: 5.125 x 7.125
    (after cutting, cards are 5" x 7")
    XL: 5.625 x 8.625
    (after cutting, cards are 5.5" x 8.5"))
  • Your text should fit within the inner guides
  • the outer guides represent the size of the final card after cutting, the extra space to the edge of the canvas gives a margin of error when cutting the cards (called a "bleed margin") Make sure that the portion of the background image outside of the outer guides is expendable.
  • Adding Images to the Template: If you're pasting photos, logos or other images into your design, make sure they are big, high resolution images. It's far better to shrink images than enlarge them. Remember the #1 rule of computers, "Garbage in, garbage out".
  • A note about color modes: printing is done from CMYK color mode. Web graphics are done in RGB color mode. Many colors do not translate perfectly from RGB to CMYK, but they DO translate well from CMYK to RGB. So, to make sure all of your marketing materials match, in print and on the web, create everything in CMYK from the start. The templates are in CMYK mode by default, but for other designs, to select the color mode in Photoshop, click "Image" from the top menu, then "Mode", then select "CMYK".
  • Printing on the back of the Postcards: you can choose to have full color or black and white on the back of the cards (see order form). To have two sided postcards, you'll need to create a seperate print-ready file for the back.
  • After creating your template and designing your card, visit the "Use your own design order form" to have it printed
  • Good Luck and Have Fun!

The following sample images are for business cards, but the margins are the same for Postcards.
The margins are critical to getting your cards to print properly.

First, your background image must go to the edge of the canvas.
All text must fit within the inner guides. No text in the margins.

Sample design:
The background photo goes all the way to the edge of the card
but the text all fits within the inner guides.

After Printing, the bleed margin gets cut away, but any images or color that
goes to the edge of the printed card must go to the edge of the design canvas
(beyond where we cut them) or you will have tiny white lines on the edges
of some of your cards. Cutting is not a perfect, exact process.

AFTER CUTTING
These margins are critical, we cannot make them smaller
without compromising your design.
